RIP: Artis Ludd, South Side Blues Legend Passes

Ms. Artis Ludd, the original owner and namesake of longtime South Side blues club Artis’s Lounge, passed away in mid-August.

Artis’s, 1249 E. 87th St., Chicago, closed its doors after nearly 30 years in August 2012, when they lost their lease.

The neighborhood bar was known for its Monday night blues jams hosted by harmonica great Billy Branch,

which drew musicians and fans from around the world.

Artis ‘King’ Ludd, 82, died August 19, 2013. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday August 31, 2013 at Stokesdale Church of God Family Outreach Center, 9081 Hwy 158, Stokesdale, NC 27357.
